Would you consider going out with someone with the same first name as you?

Would you intentionally search for someone with the same first name?

... Would you change your first name to match?

Okay, that last one is taking it a little too far beyond even questionably going too far. :-P

This entry brought to you by stumbling on a profile of a person with the same first name as mine. Curiosity.

Interestingly, I know a couple who both have the same last names, but neither changed it, and they both have the same first initial.

I have had sex with people with the same name as me.. does that count?

I say if everything else connects between the two, I can't see why a persons name would make me not want to date them

It only counts if you called out your name during sex. ;)

I have dated someone with the same first name once, which is actually kind of surprising given how common my name is. It also wasn't for very long, but not because of the name. While it lasted it wasn't weird, except that people always commented about it. Which is interesting sociologically I suppose. But I also think it highly likely in such a situation one or both would start going by nick/middle/last names. That's what happened in my undergrad circle of friends because there were 5-10 people with my first name in the extended friend network.

I don't think I would search for someone based on any name, period.

People named Michael or John probably don't worry about things like this, since that would cut out so much of their dating pool. :D

I don't think it'd matter much to me, but it's probably a moot point since I'm straight.

*feels so alone here in the commentators' section* o.O

I briefly was involved with a Marine who had the same first name as me, but I called him Gunny (it was his rank nick name) and he refered to me as Dax
