mai_neh, I try to pause the show or movie as well, but it has limited utility in my experience (unfortunately). They'll start talking so I pause it, they may or may not interrupt themselves to ask why I paused it, it sounds like we've wrapped up discussion so we'll get it playing for two seconds before they start talking again, repeat 2-3 times, and then I have to rewind it to get a better idea of what was just happening.

That or I'll get chastised for making commentary, then they'll make commentary, and then they'll ask why I don't say anything during movies.

Or ... maybe I've just had very bad experiences for watching movies or shows with others. =\
