Forgetting to write creatively is bad, but can be good
Sometimes a mistake can be a good thing in the long-term, but it can still feel like a mistake in the short-term.

Today I got up and went to my Creative Writing class to learn that I had forgotten to sign up for it. I had put it on my calendar based on the list of classes I filtered down but forgot to check it off in the registration list when actually signing up. With half a dozen classes I didn't even notice that one wasn't on the list. When I got into class today the teacher approached me and said the registrar doesn't have me on its list, so I immediately pulled up my email. Look, check, recheck, not there.

I could have stayed in the class and simply called the registrar up on Tuesday (after the holiday on Monday) to sign up for the class after-the-fact, but one thing I've been thinking lately is that I have too much going on and not enough time to myself right now. I was seriously considering dropping one or more of my remaining three classes this quarter, but ultimately freeing my Saturday from an 11am to 1:30pm class would be much more helpful in un-dicing my weekend and giving me a larger block of time to myself.

So I apologized to the teacher, explained I had too many things going on with other classes [and work], and said I would just drop the class. I apologized again, packed my netbook back up, and walked out hanging my head.
