Overheard Hunting Comment
I overheard a guy at my school the other day comment about hunting to the effect of "Any pansy can shoot a x pound deer with a sniper rifle from so many feet away, but it takes something to shoot ducks as they fly."

So all you people that like hunting deer, think about what kind of chicken you are to shoot a deer that's just standing there. That most certainly isn't sport, no matter how you look at it. That's bullying.

P.S. I don't like hunting (or fishing)

My favorite sport is beating consenting humans with a variety of whips, or my bare hands.

See, that's consenting though. I don't think the deer consented to being shot while eating. And it can be enjoyable to both parties ^_^

"There's only one person I'm going to do that kind of stuff with."
"Who's that?"
"I don't know yet."

Hrm

You've never had a deer lower his anters and charge you, have you?

Also...it's not uncommon for the Hunter to get shot either, due to stupidity accidents. And that's definately not consenting.

There's nothing really wrong with the idea of hunting. It help keeps animal populations under control. (Read: Pests and crop destroying varmints) It's just that there's a lot of stupid people who shouldn't be hunting is all...

Re: Hrm

If the deer stay in the forest then I'll stay in the city and we'll both get along just fine.

I've never been hunting, and I never plan on going hunting. It's just not something I want to do. We get plenty of food otherwise from cows, chickens, and gardens and I don't see any reason to kill something that isn't harming anyone if you aren't going to eat it. On the other hand, if you want to go hunting, then by all means do. Just don't think it should be my way of life as well. (I'm not saying that is what you said, but lots of people down here (Louisiana) think if you don't hunt you must be a girl. Or something like that.)

P.S. Raist, as in, Shelley's Raist? o.O

Re: Hrm

Yeah, if you don't want to Hunt, that's fine. A lot of people don't.

My only points are this: Deer do harm things. They cause damage. It's nasty. I've seen whole crop fields obliterated by deer. (The DNR (Dept. of Natural Resources) issues special hunting licenses to farmers in order to deal with pests for this reason) Not that this is a major reason to take on the entire deer population with little steel pellets of course...

Most of it is that it is cheap food, (almost free) and provides a helpful control on the herbivore population, in an area with next to no carnivores to do so. I also know quite a few families up here in the Northlands that have used hunting, as their primary source (read: Only) of meat and food.

*shrugs* To each their own.

PS: Dang straight!

*sigh* Many of the "new" features I hear about their new system seem exactly like features in their old systems that they didn't "feature"

I feel that bow hunting is a much fairer version of hunting, as there's more skill and difficulty involved.

*nods* I believe that was an alternative he mentioned as a more "honerable" version of deer hunting.

(And I'm not one to disagree)

Not that hunting is necessary at all for most folks. Sport hunting isn't a particularly wonderful thing. I think that if you need meat or fur, hunting may be okay, but sport hunting, be it bow hunting or gun hunting, is not particularly honorable anyway. The population control argumentis a little dodgy, especially considering that humans are the reason the natural predators aren't up to the task anyway.

*cough* Ooops. Rant button off.

Can you make it so every time the page refreshes, a different banner appears on the top? I have a bunch of character banners half prepared. Otherwise, I need to redesign.

Certainly. That's well within design possibilities and it's very easy to implement.

What's been going on, anyway? I haven't heard anything from you about PDI until now. I've been getting the impression you've been shying away from it... o.O I highly doubt that, but the impression is there.

Will reply to that at some point soon after I sort myself out, okay?

Sorry about taking so long to reply. Things started taking up my time and then the vacation this weekend prolonged any response.

That's fine. I haven't gone through the entries from this weekend yet.
