A note from my dad

I found this on the board this morning after talking to my mom last night.

Thinking for yourself is not doing anything one wants to do. -
It is developing the ability to take the information you have received from others in & out of school and using it to make a good decision.
Is it easier to row a boat upstream or down? ___
Can one make a better cake by following the recipe or just throwing something together? ___
If this doesn't work, what does? ___

Would you want to row a boat downstream if there was a waterfall and sharp rocks at the bottom?

One makes a better cake by studying a recipe, the interaction of the ingredients, and people's tastes then changing it from there - not sticking to the same old cake.
