The SSS can suck my toe
My SSS card came in today. Apparently I've been registered if I want to be or not. As you can guess, I do not like this at all.

If that rumor about the draft being instated after Bush's re-election is true, I'll be moving to Canada, Mexico, Britian, or Austrailia. There is no way I'm going to take pictures of me having sex just to prove I'm gay and not qualified.

There's almost no chance of the draft being actually instated, but if there was a draft, I don't think it likely photographic evidence would be necessary.

If one wanted to avoid the draft for ideological reasons and didn't want to play the gay card, I would be more than willing to serve as a Conscientious Objector advisor -- I have some knowledge of the subject.

I had heard a case where the officals had refused to let a guy go even though he said he was gay. He mailed them photos and got charged for something like 'mailing explicit material'.

I don't have a problem with using the gay card, but if you're willing to share your knowledge on the subject then I'm more than willing to listen.

One thing I noted on their site is "a man's reasons for not wanting to participate in a war must not be based on politics, expediency, or self-interest." I'd think my reasons for not wanting a draft would be included in the "politics" category.

If they refused to let him out then they were breaking their own laws -- which happens.

If you feel it is wrong for you to participate in war, that is an ideological opposition to the draft. If you feel it would be wrong to participate in a particular war or action, or under a particular president, that is politics.

Well, hmm... both seems to apply. I don't like war, and I especially don't like this war / president. But yeah, I don't like fighting altogether. I've never been in a physical fight in my entire life, heh xD

Are you getting my emails?

Did you get your driver's license and are turning/just turned 18 soon?

The DMV registers you for all that and has the SSS card, and your voter's card sent to you usually right before you turn 18.

I have a driver's license, yes, but according to the SSS website they would merely remind me to register, not actually register me, I think.

Oh well... I'll go along with this ... bull, for now. But if the draft is ever re-instated...

The rumor is true. You can look up the bills yourself if you'd like to.

As for being automatically registered, it's the law when you turn 18. If you filled out a FAFSA form for college, applied for a driver's license, or registered to vote, chances are you got registered for the Draft automatically.

I don't really doubt the rumor is true, especially since they're being granted a lot of money suddenly to rev up their operations.

The thing is, from what I've read on their website they only send out reminders to register if you have a license or other things like that, not actually register you. It doesn't really matter any more, as I'm already registered. If I have to I'll be a CO, or at least play the gay card. If both of those don't work... grr.
