Snow Owl

Travel Now, Travel Later, Travel Possibilty; Folding Bike Issues

I'm on the train to Indianapolis to hang out with Asa & Jeni. I expect to be there just before midnight. I've packed two sets of clothes and hygienic items in only my backpack. It's a bit full, with a few other daily carry-around items, but sufficient for this small trip.

I've just booked the flight from Chicago to Seattle on the 22nd of June. I'll leave Chicago at 5:50pm CST and arrive in Seattle at 8:15pm PST (4h 25m). I expect to be there for at least 3 to 5 weeks.

August is a fairly low-key month for me so I'm thinking about visiting Las Vegas around the 3rd Saturday of the month to visit the game group on their main game night. It would be good to say hello to my friends and acquaintances there. I might also be able to have lunch with ex-coworkers and even ride my motorcycle again.

The problem with having a fold-up bike is that then you don't want to leave it outside anywhere, so when you go somewhere you have to carry it around inside with you as well. This would make grocery trips ... interesting, to say the least. It also makes it unfeasible to ride to public transit then leave it chained at the station, as the chain recommended by the bike shop I bought it from was huge (and probably weighty, although I didn't test it). I'm tempted to leave it here in Chicago with someone so I wouldn't have to pay the extra check-in luggage fee, especially since Seattle is so hilly and the smaller rims do not make good hill climbers (at all). On the other hand, if I go that far I may as well just sell it, which would also be an option. I don't think I'm ready to go that far, though. We'll see.
