Please let me kill Windows XP! Please!! It's driving me nuts, and no fix in sight.

Animations in Firefox stop after two seconds.
The "download complete" and "new email" notifications freeze on the screen until manually 'exiting' firefox/thunderbird.
Emulation won't run unless it's in turbo mode (snes9x) or freezes the entire computer (zsnes).
Movies in games skip and freeze.

If only it were possible to strangle a computer. *glare*

tee hee hee, I wub woo windows!!! XP still wistens to meeeeee, weeeeeeee...

:P
What are some symptoms you're experiencing? Maybe I may land a hand.
I've become quite familiar to nearly all the inner workings of XP
1 & 2, pro but not quite with home.

If not, just try the usual restart, that always seems to help.
Or just try disabling some extensions and plugins in Firefox, I've
experienced the hanging problems of Windows XP using Firefox and other
programs as well, leaving me to wait on average five to six minutes.

See, if you were paying attention I just told you what most of the symptoms are. A couple others I just remembered having just booted the computer:

The laptop fan stops after it gets to the startup screen the first time the laptop boots, but stays on after a reboot.
The laptop refuses to actually turn off when shut down. You have to hit the power button after it turned the fan off and frozen up.
It takes like two minutes, quite literally, for windows to fully start up after the desktop is showing. (for example, the desktop will show and you can click icons, but it won't be done loading everything for another minute to two minutes. (might have Norton Anti-Virus to blame for this)

This laptop has been rebooted and shutdown so many times while the problems persist that another one obviously isn't going to fix anything.

My boyfriend's Firefox profile doesn't have any extensions, and the "Download Complete" notification still freezes.
