*squish* Ah ha! All Mine.
^^ *orgasm-like joy* (you know what I mean)

I finally fixed all of the problems with the laptop, and with just one step. You know what the problem was? The laptop's BIOS was incompatible with SP2, so all I had to do is go to Averatec's website and download the update. It fixed all of the problems; from the fan stopping on start until restarted and not shutting down all the way to the firefox/thunderbird notification stuck up and animations/game movies skipping and freezing.

What I find interesting is that Microsoft expects everyone to modify their software to accomidate changes in Windows, instead of the other way around or with a little give-and-take.

Im not an all time fan of Microsoft yet being a windows administrator over several servers I have to kinda stick up for MS on this one. Unlike Apple, MS has so much ground to cover when it comes to hardware so they have to do a one size fits all type of fix.

Yet most of the time when I work on someones computer I tend to check the OEM's website and update everything like that just out of safety sake. Too bad the OEM's dont have a list where you can signup and get notices for particular updates or like Compaq used to have a program that downloads and applies the updates automatically.

eek, i miss Compaq for that, I'm a huge Compaq fan, even though
i rooted for the merger.

I think i'm going to miss Carly for what she's done, though
she seemed to be a bit anal, she knew what she was doing, *tears*

that problem anymore. sorry i couldn't be off more assistance, time to
run off into the abyss called school, ciao!
