My brother works at Nucor Steel Mill as a, in simplest terms, IT person. They were running PHP 4 when they decided to upgrade to the latest PHP, version 5. After they upgraded certain things broke (as is to be expected considering how many things were turned into plugins that need to be installed seperately and how some functions change the way data is returned).
He's the killer, instead of fixing those things, they cried "PHP is broken! We can't use it anymore!" and decided to switch to ASP .NET. Yes folks, they decided to go from open source to proprietary. My brother had to install the entire Visual Studio .NET. If that wasn't shocking enough to some folks, here's where it gets really shocking. .NET allows you to write in several languages (Java, C, Visual Basic, and one other) depending on which you prefer and which would get the job done better, but, wait for it, they're only allowed to code in Visual Basic .NET! Go figure!
