The Autobiography of Russell
Life from a different perspective
Finished HP, fixed necklace, and a couple of PS.
I started reading the latest Harry Potter book about 6 or 7 last night. I went to bed about 2:30 and woke up about 7:30. I finished it a few minutes after noon.

No, I'm not going to discuss the book, even behind a cut, at least not right now. Once Rob has read it I may discuss it with him but that's likely to be it. I just don't feel like it.

While attempting to take off Rob's necklace for him while he was here I ended up popping the string next the button part of the hooking mechanism. He left it here, whether by accident or on purpose, so I've attempted to fix it with the correct pattern. It looks like it has been broken at least once before on the other end because the pattern is wrong on the last few beads on that end. Anyway, the thread I used isn't the same thickness as the original as I only have regular cloths thread on hand, but it seems to be working decently, if not a little long now. If he's interested I could put a different kind of hooking mechanism on it that would be easier to put on and take off.

PS: Back is killing me today. I think it's because of the way I was laying while reading Harry Potter. A little self-massaging (yes, of my back) has helped quite a bit.

PPS: I'm undecided if I want to deal with the lawn this evening or tomorrow. I'm not sure if the ground is dry enough to deal with being walked and wheeled over repeatedly without leaving ruts behind yet. It did just rain on and off for the last week or two.

*looks* 652 pages at what looks like 11 or 12 pt font, 1.5 line spacing, and approximately 29 lines per page.

You fixed my necklace? Awwwwwwwwwww.

Incidentally, Lu has Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince out from the lbrary, and my willpower is quickly fading.

Looks like she's back to green covers. I guess that makes Order of the Phoenix really stand out on my bookshelf :-P

Interested in a different hooking mechanism? It can be arranged. (Yes, I'm a seedy back-street merchant who deals in questionable wares)

PS: How long have you had this necklace in particular? I'm guessing quite a while from the state of the thread and the fact some of the color from the beads bled into the thread.

Go head and play around with it. Additions made by you will make the necklace more meaningful to me =).

I got it in may 2004 during the post-breakup shopping spree in Georgetown and wore it religiously from then until school started. Then i've worn it off and on. I've never had it break on me (that i've known of) but i'm pretty unlucky with necklaces.

You had the necklace for over a year and you're willing to let it go that easily, or were you just trying to save me from being the object of .... whatever it's called (words fail me)?

It's just a necklace. That one has no particular special memories attached to it, except that Rwen liked it and I bught it to replace an old one that I quit wearing. That one, a black and white necklace, has a lot of memories assciated with it, most of them bad. I got it right when I met Mike (he loved it and loved playing with it), quit wearing it after he dumped me - the association was too powerful - and started to wear it again the day Zack broke up with me.

This new necklace was part of that shopping spree, and I haven't worn it much in the last year. Really, I only wore it this weekend b/c I knew you liked playing with it. If you do change the clasp, it'll add some nice memories to it, and fix something that was a serious pain in the ass. Some days it took me five minutes to get it off.
