I have a very bad feeling about this.
I have a very bad feeling about this. I think I may have just killed Todd's memory card. :-\

I started a new game in Kingdom Hearts, this time on Normal mode (vs Expert). When it came time to save my game I did so in a new file, waited what seemed like the appropriate length of time, and continued on thinking nothing of it, not even reading the status message. The next time I went to save my game, overwriting the last save, the file read "Save Corrupted". When I tried to save over it, it acts like its working for a moment and then says it couldn't save it because the memory card was removed (but I didn't touch it). I tried saving it to a new file and it immediately (vs waiting) said the memory card was removed. Umm, no no no no no. Not good. This isn't my PS2 or memory card. Please tell me I didn't kill it. :-\

Todd is going to kill me if somehow the memory card became corrupted. =\

Current Mood: worried worried
Current Music: None

I'm about to freak out. If there are any more 'glitches' I probably will freak out.

I really don't want to add "game killer" to my reputation. And things were getting good with the guy too. =\

PS2 save carts are flash ram. Flash ram wears out. Especially if you keep writing to the same locations.

Just boot the PS2 w/out a game in it and look at the contents of the mem cart.

About how many times would you estimate someone could safely save their game progress before they should worry about losing it instead?

I've pulled a memory card out during save before. All it did was corrupt the file i was saving, none others. I ended up just deleting that file (and being sad at the 2 seasons of madden i had lost), and it cleared up the space and i just started another. So you should only have lost that file and no others ones. Take it out, push it back in, and restart with no game in and you can see what the mem card says. Those things should be pretty durable, i mean i had a ps1 memory card that overheated and when i pulled it out it was melty and left my thumbprint, and it still works and lost no info. So I wouldn't be too concerned.

The odd thing is that I didn't touch the memory card while it was saving. It just... *shrug* Not only that, but, like I said above, it was still reporting that the memory card was removed when I tried to save it to other blank files.

Oh well, if deleting that one file will fix things then no lose at all. The one file only contains one save state for Kingdom Hearts, not all of them.

Sweetie, don't worry about it. Memory cards can be replaced and files can be transfered.
