STUPID STUPID STUPID MySpace
I spent like two hours earlier today on MySpace figuring out all the CSS classes/ids and what-not to make a very nice looking yet simplistic profile, and they won't let me. For whatever reason they're filtering out all pound signs (#) in the code, so now my code looks convoluted. Because they don't provide the necessary hooks to style the page correctly (using simple CSS like .darkbackground or .header), I can't do SQUAT. I can paint the entire thing one color, I can put a picture in the background, and yet I can't change the default colors for specific items. I just want to strangle them after wasting all that time only to find out they won't let you do squat. They provide just enough enough CSS hooks to do what you're not supposed to do, but not the ones that let you do what you want.

*seethes*

Edit: This is what my profile would have looked like (with commentary).

You can't post URLs??? Since when? Everyone does that. What bullshit.

From the MySpace Terms & Conditions:
  1. Content/Activity Prohibited. The following is a partial list of the kind of Content that is illegal or prohibited to post on or through the Services. [...] Prohibited Content includes, but is not limited to Content that, in the sole discretion of MySpace.com:
    1. provides any telephone numbers, street addresses, last names, URLs or email addresses;

LOL, that's a laugh.
Go profile surfing, see how many people follow that.

I know it's a laugh, but it's an annoying laugh. The Terms & Conditions essentially give them the right to do whatever they want for any reason. It takes away all the rights of the user while on their site.

I'm half tempted to make my own profile site just so I can make it look half decent. The only problem with that idea is that MySpace has already gotten a very big foot-hold in the profile market so I'm not sure how many people would be willing to either migrate or have "yet another profile".

Yeah, pretty much. There are definitely a few sites out right now that I would class as "better than MySpace," but none of them already have 64 million members.

Can you include an external spreadsheet and host it elsewhere?

something like:

<LINK TYPE="text/css" HREF="http://www.w3.org/StyleSheets/Core/Swiss">

I kind of doubt it (especially if they won't let you use # in the CSS) but it is worth a shot. *tries*

Nope. "<LINK" immediately gets turned into ".." like just about everything else (What an interesting replacement.... not).
