Google's Summer of Code
I think I'm going to try out for Google's Summer of Code. I've looked at the organizations they have listed so far. It doesn't look all that promising at the moment with my current skills and experience. On the other hand, I only need one project to work on and the Gallery project is in the list. I'm not sure if the list of ideas for Gallery are for this year or from last year, but it's definitely worth a shot.

mmm..... I can't wait to see what other projects I might be able to do or even just what ideas are available for Gallery. I'll probably be installing that on my site to organize my pictures.

I've been thinking of doing that too, but I have no idea what to do for them. I only have a few vague ideas that are not terribly interesting to anyone other then myself.

Many of the sites accept ideas from the general community (their users and regular developers) then list those on their site as ideas for the Summer of Code students. Gallery has a list out but I'm not sure if it's from last year or for this one. Gaim has one as well but it looks like it is from last year (thus why I'm questioning if Gallery's is for this or last year). Perl's site also has a list.

A project for the Summer of Code would definitely be a gem for my resume, not to mention would be a tremendious kick in the rear for my finances (yay car, apartment, and the job that would result from those).
