1992 Toyota Camry (or maybe Corolla)
There is a maroon, 1992 Toyota Camry (or maybe Corolla) down in Louisiana with my name on it. Maybe. I hope.

My mom checked it out Thursday and she thought it looked like the better choice between some other vehicles the guy had. She went back earlier today with my dad and they test drove it. It has 217,000 miles on it, but both he and the vehicle guy agree that it's probably good for 300,000 or more (My dad said he has seen some that lasted to 600,000 if well taken care of). He's pretty sure it would last me for at least two years, possibly five.

The towing place has the vehicle because it doesn't have any insurance/inspection sticker. The way that works is if goes for so long then they make a new title and give it to the towing guy.

I'm going to see about wiring the money to my parents tomorrow and then going down either tomorrow or Sunday to get the vehicle. A 500 mile trip back up should be a pretty good test for any problems.

My parents have always bought Camry's because they hold up well. My dad had one from 1989 (maybe even earlier) that he kept until like 2003 before getting a new Camry because it just held up well. So from what I know, Toyota is good at making lasting cars.

I wouldn't recommend buying anything you havn't driven yourself. Just $.02 though.

If it were anyone else I would probably agree with you, and if I could I'd probably should still. I trust my dad when it comes to things mechanical, so if he says a car is good I'll take his word on it.

It's less so the idea of "mechanically sound" and more little things like "do you like how it handles; where the mirrors are placed; comfortable driving; etc." Things I've noticed in my years of driving.
