The Autobiography of Russell
Life from a different perspective
Sure, I have more now but I still can't enjoy it.
I have a good bit of money in my bank account and it was starting to burn a hole in my pockets, but it looks like my pockets are going to be pulled inside-out for a while. I have 636$ in taxes to pay by April 16th. So much for the thought of getting a Wii, DS, or even a PS2. :-\

Or is it? I am tired of playing the responsible one and doing without. There's no reason I couldn't save the money from future paychecks, is there? There is still that thing (hush hush) that may be coming up, but from the looks of it that might not be a good idea or likely anymore.

And here I was hoping you'd buy my book.

While at Hastings earlier today I put "The Ethical Slut" on order. Provided I actually read it it will be the first book I've read in months, literally.

Can you believe I had to show ID to prove I was 18 before they could order it? o.o

Sorry, I just haven't had the attention to read much of anything, much less respond to a lot of things.

Isn't it amazing that it's the people at the bottom that have to find the money to pay for an inordinate amount of taxes while the super-rich, were they to pay their 'fair share' wouldn't even feel it?

Umm, yeah. The "super-rich" already pay most of the taxes. Percentage wise they even pay more. The problem with my taxes, though, is the way I got that income. It's an "Independent Contractor" type thing so not only do I have to pay the 10% bracket tax (450$), but also the business/self-employment tax (186$). Also, the taxes weren't taken out as I got the money so I have to pay it all at once.

Personally I'll take a flat-rate tax over anything and everything we already have (I'd actually prefer no taxes, but nobody currently in power will take themselves out of power these days). Tax everybody 10%. If the government can't live off of that then it shouldn't live at all. Of course it couldn't live off that the way it currently functions, so it wouldn't dare consider killing itself.
