Secondary room sizes
I'm trying to figure out what size secondary room is acceptable for rental. It's my main issue for deciding on one house or another to rent (Buying is not an option at the moment). Therefore I'm coming to you for advice. I've created a simple poll for quick entry, but longer comments of advice are also welcome.

Choose the size that is closet to what matches, or if you must then round up to the next option. For example if you have a 10.5' x 10.5x but wouldn't consider anything less then choose 11' x 11'.

I would probably go with a 10x10 or 11x11 as the bare minimum, anything smaller and we're talking jail cell size. LOL.

Or little kid sized, which is what I suspect a number of the places I've seen are geared more toward.

I'll take a tape measure to the house when I go again this evening and measure the secondary room. If it's at least 11x11 then I'll go ahead and take it.

My friend Monika regularly rents out a room that is about 10x10. I think it partially depends also, though, on the size of the closet, and how much of the rest of the house you are willing to "share." For Monika, she shares the kitchen/dining/LR area, and keeps her office space private. I think that's pretty standard, although when Allen & I rented two rooms, we pretty much had run of the rest of the house (except the owner's master bedroom, of course).

Okay if you plan on living in this place for a long time go with bigger! Remember if your renting a room from someone the bedroom is the ONLY place in the house you'll be able to have your own space so you want it to be room enough for everything in there!
