There were drag performances, the crowning of Mr. & Ms. Las Vegas Pride, and a special performance by them (in leathers with whips none the less).
Half the room seemed to already know each other. Most stayed in their little groups and gossipped. During the totality of the evening a grand total of five things were said.
To the bartender: "Water, please.", "Thank you."
To someone blocking my way: "Excuse me."
To the guy at the door on the way out to put my coat in the car: "I'll be back."
To one of the "Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence" when asked if I have a leather suit like the ones being used in the stage performance: "No."
I tried to smile a lot but I think it just scared off the kiddies. Next time I want a wing man/woman to distract me from all the 'pretty boys'. There were a few guys I thought were pleasant to look at. There was only one guy I really started to latch onto. He was wearing a sweater with a pink button-up shirt under it (the collar and sleeves could be seen). After he and one of the 'Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence' randomly decided to walk to the other side of the place I decided it was time for me to head home. It was already just after 10:20 and 11 was my cut-off time anyway. I was reaching my limit of tolerance for feeling completely out of place.
I now need to learn to dance in country style as well. =\ If I'm to do all the things I want to do my evenings are about to become very full with various classes. Might as well take advantage of the situation, though.
