Plans for CA...; Rental Car Paranoia
I'm probably going to delay the first part of the trip to LA until I can get confirmation of a place to stay. That or see if leolz would be willing to put me up early and head directly there for now.

*pokes leolz*

I've become considerably paranoid about the financial liability the rental car is since I don't have collision insurance of my own. Getting collision insurance for my own vehicles would more than double the cost even with maximum deductable. I think I'll just go back to the rental agency and pay the extra 260 or so (24$ a day) for their insurance. :-/

no no no!!! If you have a gold or higher credit cards you are covered, if not, contact your insurance company and get 100k liability bond for a week. Shouldn't cost more than 100 dolars.

I was hoping someone knew moew than I did, thank you.

I don't have any credit cards still. Too lazy to find one or just choose one card over another.

I tried calling my insurance company (Geico) about insuring the rental car temporarily and the lady was all "No, you can't insure a rental car. It depends on your insurance if it will also cover a rental (with the same coverage)", but I don't have collision coverage on my car or motorcycle)"

I'll call them again to ask specifically about a liability bond for a week and a half. The rental isn't to be returned until June 1st.

I called Geico and they don't offer 'bonds' or any other short-term insurance. The agent actually recommended increasing my own car's insurance then call back later to revert it. That would cover the rental, except I would have to take my personal vehicle in for an inspection to make sure there is no existing damage first (... which there is, ugh). That makes no sense to me. Stupid stupid stupid. So much headache for such little things.

So it looks like my only options are to find another insurance company that would do short-term for an unknown entity, just go back to the rental company for theirs, or risk it. Considering my luck I'm not liking the 'risk it' option.

PS: I hate being under 25. I get screwed every step of the way when it comes to vehicles. Insurance. Rentals. More insurance.
